It was pointing right, and I had to go left but I knew DiGrazia Vineyards would not be too far out of the way when my appointment was over. But it was only 10am... and would they even be open today? And how early is too early to start tasting wine on a Thursday? A quick search online shows me the tasting room hours are from 11am to 5pm Thursday to Monday. A quick scan of my calendar shows me that I have time to stop between appts. Also, it is, IN FACT, 5 o'clock somewhere. YES!
The closing went smooth and I was lucky enough to catch the winemaker in the tasting room. (A joke about the early wine drinker catching the vintner would be good here.) We chatted about their wines and beekeeping and I learned something new about both! I also liked all six of the wines I picked to taste and that is rare for me.
Long story short, DiGrazia Vineyards is worth checking out! If you're in or around Fairfield County give them a try. If you're not near by but are collecting stamps in your CT Wine Trail Passport, make the trip.
