With each of their families living in different parts of our very small state, they were flexible on their location but they knew exactly what they wanted in their new home. Jason flew out to CT for a short trip and we looked at quite a few houses over a few days in very different areas but with similar amenities. We found everything they were looking for in Windsor Locks! Jay gave Kim a tour via FaceTime and by the time he was back home in IL, they had decided to make an offer.
That all sounds pretty simple, so I know you're wondering about the nightmare part of the tale I mentioned above. Here goes... Kim and Jay were selling their house in IL on a Thursday and planning to close on their house in CT on Friday. A tight timeline, but nothing too concerning. By Thursday evening they had arrived in CT, their whole lives packed up in a moving truck, ready to unload the next day. And that's when we found out the closing was to be moved to Monday! Maybe that doesn't sound as scary as I made it out to be? If not, imagine you have a toddler, a baby on the way, a dog, all of your worldly goods on a moving truck with nowhere to go and you're trying to get back to work on Monday. The move alone was stressful enough for this family without the delay. I was stressed just thinking about it. I think I'm still stressed! Thankfully, they were able to make and re-make all of their arrangements and I'm happy to say they are moving in as I type this. Once they're settled and the moving PTSD has had a chance to subside, they are going to really love their new house!
In real estate even when everything goes right, something can always go wrong. And when it does, I do my best to help my clients through it. So I'm happy to say that even after their troubled transaction, Kim and Jay are still my friends! Welcome (back) home to CT, Pendred family! See you soon!
